Tadd and I went to the Firehouse last night for our 2 year anniversary. It was a really nice restaurant in Old Town Sacramento. We were able to walk around for about 20 minutes before we headed in for our reservation. We walked into a few stores, and tried on a some fun masquerade masks. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated promptly in a cute little corner two seater. Right away we were served an amuse-bouche which was a bite size cream puff with a mushroom, artichoke and gruyere cheese filling. It was delicious. Just what we needed to start our dinner. Bread was served with butter shaped as a rose. Then we receieved our sampler appetizer of a crusted brie wedge with currants, beef tenderloin strips and a dungeness crab cake with avocado spread. After that, we got out salads. I ordered a mixed greens salad with strawberries, spiced almonds and goat cheese with a strawberry vinaigeratte. Tadd got an asparagus salad wrapped in prosciutto with artichokes, shaved parmesan cheese and lettuce. This was really tasty and this is a salad that we may try and re create for our next lucky guests. After the salad, we got a palate cleanser.
A small sorbet of cucumber to prepare us for our main dish. Tadd ordered the Steak Delmonico and I ordered the Filet Mignon. Mine came with a mashed potato cake and broccolini. Tadd's steak came with decorative mashed potatoes, broccolini and fried pork belly to add some serious flavor. We could not finish our main dishes which was great because we were able to eat it for lunch today! After our main dish, we were able to get a free creme brulee as I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating our 2 year anniversary. We love creme brulee, so it was perfect to end our dinner and evening at the Firehouse. It was a great restuarant that we were able to try and would definitely reccommend it to anyone who is looking for something nice and fancy and delicious.
